Good Friday

Apr 02, 2021

What I am going to share with you all today I found in the notes on my phone from Good Friday in April of 2019. I wanted to share why Good Friday is so important to me and why we should take time today and every day to reflect on the sacrifice that was made for us, that we did not deserve. I pray these words remind you of how loving our God really is...

Today, we remember the long road to Calvary, and the hatred that was thrown at Jesus. God, help us to never forget or take your Son’s sacrifice for granted.

He was perfect and did not deserve to die this way but, the whole point of Him coming was so that He could come as a sacrifice for the sins of this world.

Help us to be thankful every day for this. Jesus took all the sins of the world on Him. He suffered and was beaten and whipped for us. He was beaten so badly that you couldn’t even recognize Him.

He walked down the long road to Calvary being mocked, spit at, and ashamed. He took it all. He could have stopped it. He could have stopped it all at any time. But no, He knew what He came to do and He was going to obey what His father called him to do.

He could have stopped it at any point when the beating just got too rough but no, my Jesus is strong, faithful, and He was going to see it till the end. He was then nailed to the cross for MY sins, OUR sins. He took my place so that I don’t have to live in my sins anymore.

He was hung there being mocked and stripped of his clothes yet, He took it all. On His final breath when He said “it is finished”, He had paid for everyone’s sins. Everyone at that time, everyone who was going to sin, even all the way up until this day. He covered it. With His innocent blood, He covered it.

But don’t worry the story doesn’t end there. Then three days later........ my Jesus rose from the dead! He is a resurrecting God with resurrecting power!

He rose from the dead so that he could be a living and breathing testimony of God’s power! I am forever thankful for his sacrifice for me that I did not deserve. May we never forget or take for granted our sweet Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. Worthy is the Lamb who was slain.

Rest in the lyrics of this song today:

“Lamb of God” by Vertical Worship

You came from Heaven’s throne

Acquainted with our sorrows

To trade the debt we owed

Your suffering for our freedom

The Lamb of God, in my place

Your blood poured out, my sin erased

It was my death you died

I am raised to life

Hallelujah, the Lamb of God

My name upon your heart

My shame upon your shoulders

The power of sin undone

The cross for my salvation

The Lamb of God, in my place

Your blood poured out, my sin erased

It was my death you died

I am raised to life

Hallelujah, the Lamb of God

There is no greater love

There is no greater love

The Savior lifted up

There is no greater love

There is no greater love

There is no greater love

The Savior lifted up

There is no greater love

The Lamb of God, in my place

Your blood poured out, my sin erased

It was my death you died

I am raised to life

Hallelujah, the Lamb of God
